February—the shortest month and the month when we sometimes get little teases of spring here in CT (like yesterday when it was almost 70º!) but know it’s still a ways off (today calls for snow). For me, this month inspires juxtaposition—of winter and spring, of dark and light colors, cozy and fresh, light and heavy materials. That’s what today’s mood board is all about! In the home I’ve been incorporating fresh florals, light linens beside heavier materials and a freshening up and organization of our home.

I was inspired to start this new series of “home basics” while I was going over my goals and plans for Root and Dwell in the year ahead. The Root and Dwell style is all about a timeless and thoughtful base upon which to add personal, soulful and cozy touches. Basics such as these can work in many homes and stand the test of time style-wise.
