February—the shortest month and the month when we sometimes get little teases of spring here in CT (like yesterday when it was almost 70º!) but know it’s still a ways off (today calls for snow). For me, this month inspires juxtaposition—of winter and spring, of dark and light colors, cozy and fresh, light and heavy materials. That’s what today’s mood board is all about! In the home I’ve been incorporating fresh florals, light linens beside heavier materials and a freshening up and organization of our home.

Here are my “5 things” this month:

  1. I’ve been reading “Take it Outside", the book by the Manscapers team, and it’s getting me so excited for spring/summer and the outdoor living that comes along with it! It’s also inspiring me to tackle our outdoor space and make it homier, but not sure we will get to that this year.

  2. We made over a storage bench and created a nice little space in our kitchen that was underutilized before. Now it functions to keep backpacks and random stuff off the kitchen table AND is a pretty spot to look at. I framed some botanical postcards I got from the NY botanical garden and hung them above the bench. Loving this little area now! (see photo below)

  3. I made these cauliflower buffalo bites for a super bowl gathering we went to and now I’m obsessed! Made them again for our game and movie night at home over the weekend :) I used Thrive Market’s vegan buffalo sauce instead of making the one in this recipe— talk about an easy app!

  4. Just purchased this pennant for Anchor’s room! He is obsessed with Montauk so I couldn’t resist. I also just did a little moving around/refresh in his room so it felt like the perfect time. I’ll share that refresh soon on Instagram!

  5. I had to repot our bird of paradise plant — it’s planted in a nursery pot but I wanted a decorative basket for it to go into. I had a hard time finding a basket large enough but came across this one and love it!

This is just a temporary fix as we plan to renovate the entire kitchen eventually. But I love it! A definite improvement from this underutilized space before.
