It’s officially summer break here which means lots of outdoor time! I love being able to walk right out our back door and enjoy our yard. We did a good clean up of our patio and deck so we can start enjoying it ASAP. We plan to do some major renovations to it in the next few years, but for now we will enjoy it as is.

Layered lighting—one of the top things I think about when designing a space! I’ll be sharing what it is, why to do it and how to achieve it in today’s post!

Last week I shared an instagram post talking about the “red thread” in a home- thoughtfully tying rooms in the home together with specific colors, materials or style. I figured I’d go a bit more in depth in a blog post since it’s such an important part of designing a home.

We got so much great feedback on our last “look we’re loving” post and so appreciate it! We are excited to bring you another one—all about reeded and fluted detailing, a look I’m sure you’ve been seeing around!

I’m really loving when it’s added subtly and intentionally to a space, as a surprise detail. It can really add texture and interest to a space or piece. It can be seen as wall treatments, on doors, cabinetry, furniture, molding, lighting, glass and more. Below I talk a bit about the difference between reeded and fluted design, spaces these looks can be added and lots of inspiration photos, of course!

Art has a very special place in my heart. I’ve always been an artist and went on to major in both illustration and graphic design in college. I so appreciate thoughtful art in a home— when it’s not mass-produced it creates a personalized, one-of-a-kind vibe in a space. Also, when you buy directly from an artist it creates that special connection to the art, really making your home look and feel intentional, purposeful and unique.

Today we’re talking about something I would really love to do in our laundry room when we get around to remodeling it—brick flooring.

I can’t believe I’m designing the nursery and that the baby will be here in 3 months! It took us a really long time to get pregnant this time around, so we are extra grateful and excited to welcome another babe into our life <3 We don’t know the sex of the baby (we didn’t find out with Anchor, either), so I designed a neutral nursery. I focused on calming colors, natural materials, and varying textures-the usual root + dwell style!
