I have a fun little DIY for you guys today! This little succulent tray was so fun to make— it’s like an easier version of a terrarium :) I saw this idea via Terrain and couldn’t wait to try it! I’m sharing everything I used and how I did it below.

Materials:

  • tray (I used this tray in 7” diameter)

  • succulents

  • potting soil

  • moss (I used this preserved reindeer moss in “natural” and “moss”)

  • rocks

  • shells, sticks, larger rocks or anything you want to decorate it with

  • a plant mister (I use this one)

Steps:

  1. Have a theme/look in mind and gather your materials.

  2. Shake/pull off the bottom half of your succulent’s soil into the tray so it will fit the shallow depth of the tray (see photo example below).

  3. Place your succulents in their position. Add more potting soil around if you need more.

  4. Spray the soil lightly with your plant mister.

  5. Add in your moss, rocks and other decorations until you have the desired look.

  6. Enjoy! Remember to lightly spritz with water when needed. Succulents don’t need a lot of water so don’t overdo it.

My tray, succulents, moss and spray bottle are from Terrain. The decorative rocks are from a local craft store, and the shells and larger rocks are collected from nature.
