Q+A With B+D
I’m so excited about this new series that I have had on my mind for a while! We will be doing posts with Q+As about really anything—from home design/renovation to personal qs! This one starts out with a few Q+As about house renovations. I’ll start asking all of you what questions you want answered and maybe they will be featured in future posts! You can always reach out and ask us anything, anyway :)
We answered separately and without knowing what the other said :)
Okay, so here it goes!
Q. What is your favorite project to date?
B. The garage exterior project! I think because it was so different than anything we have ever done before and we really got to be creative in a different way. It was frustrating and a huge learning experience as we redid it 3x!!! But we are SO happy with how it came out.
D. I liked how the trellis over the garage turned out - it was almost a bummer to have to paint it because the cedar had such a great look as is! I also have to say that while it wasn’t a focal point, adding the recessed lights in the living room was a good learning experience.
Q. What’s the best part about renovating together as husband and wife?
B. Motivating each other and enjoying the finished product together. It’s nice being proud about something we created as a team!
D. It can be both a good thing and bad thing to have to explain to your wife why you have to re-panel above the garage doors a third time in one month… I’m thankful to have someone who’s understanding and supporting, even when I mess something up and have to run back out to Home Depot for the third time that day! Sharing the highs and lows, or the journey, is rewarding in itself.
Q. How/where do you get your inspiration from?
B. Walking around our favorite coastal neighborhoods! They’re always renovating/turning houses over so we get to see what the newest trends are.
D. Out and about. Other peoples’ inspiring homes, especially by the coast.
Q. What’s the next project you want to work on?
B. Veggie garden!
D. Something easy and inexpensive I hope! Thinking fixing up the deck so we can enjoy it with friends and family this summer.
Q. In your opinion, what has been the most worthwhile task to hire out for thus far?
B. Definitely the flooring! We got new flooring in 3 rooms and I can’t imagine the time it would have taken for us to do it ourselves. Especially with the herringbone flooring which I’m glad we had someone who has that design skill do. Also, although it’s not done yet, the exterior house painting. Painting takes so long!
D. Treework. Leaf it to the pros.
