Family Abstract Art Project

Family Art Project | root + dwell

Guys, we MADE this!! There’s nothing like having pieces up in your home that you put time and effort into, especially when it was done as a family. It’s a meaningful piece that I have to say is quite beautiful (maybe I'm biased :)).

See below for more photos and tips!

Materials:

  1. large, stretched canvas, pre gessoed (primed)

  2. acrylic paints

  3. paintbrushes in assorted sizes

Tips:

  1. know where the painting will be going

  2. choose colors ahead of time that you want in the painting. be mindful that colors will mix together

  3. squeeze paint out on sections of the canvas, then have everyone start painting and blending

  4. again, be mindful of what colors you are putting next to each other and how they will look when mixed

  5. be sure to sign and date the painting! we did our first initials in the corner, then put the date on the back

  6. have fun with it and don’t worry about perfection! You can always layer colors over a section you really don’t like. Plus, this is the beauty of an abstract piece :)
