DIY Neutral Pom Pom + Wooden Bead Garland
I originally made this garland as winter decoration, but because it's so neutral I will move it to the office or Anchor's bedroom after the holidays! I definitely stress DIYs that can be reused as much as possible, so this is in line with that!
This garland looks great paired with holiday greenery. Read below to learn how to make your own!
You will need:
a pair of scissors
pom pom maker or cardboard to make your own
cotton yarn (I LOVE this organic brand. It's so soft and beautiful!)
natural wooden beads
yarn needle
1. Measure and cut your yarn.
If you cut to about 80in it will finish at about 72 or so. It all depends how long you want your garland! Just remember the finished product will be shorter than the string you cut due to tying knots and the loops at the ends.
2. Create your pom poms
You can either purchase pom pom makers if you will be doing a lot of crafts, or you can make your own pom pom maker. Here is a great video how. My garland required 6 pom poms.
3. Add your first pom pom
Thread your needle and pull through the middle knot of your first pom pom. I make this one end of the garland, take my needle out and continue from the other side.
4. Knot and add beads.
Create a double knot about 3 inches from your first pom pom to hold the beads in place. String your bead(s) on, then close with another double knot.
5. Continue
Add your next pom pom 3 inches from the beads, and continue the pom pom bead pattern until you have about 5-6 inches left at the end.
6. Tie loops. (optional).
Tie a loop at each end of the garland for hanging purposes, and you're done! Hang, style and enjoy for years to come :)
