Our Veggie Garden 2022 and Root and Dwell June Challenge

This is our fourth year with this veggie garden! Each year we’ve done small little updates. We constructed it in 2019, added the herb box in 2020, and added the paver and rocks in front of the gate in 2021. This year we added little hooks next to the herb box to hang gardening tools so I don’t have to bring them back and forth from the house.

What we planted this year:

  • mint (grew back from last year)

  • raspberry bush (grew back from last year)

  • carrots

  • a few different types of lettuces

  • onions

  • garlic

  • bell peppers

  • jalepenos

  • basil

  • lemongrass

  • grape tomatoes

  • lavender

  • thyme (actually keeping this one in a pot on the deck)

June monthly challenge:

This month I’m challenging you to plant something edible! You can go big or small with this. It doesn’t have to be an entire garden— you can simply get some pots and plant some herbs, tomatoes, berries or even lettuces that you can keep right in a sunny spot on your deck or patio. (See our mint in the pots below.) Head to your local nursery and see what’s in season/available!
