Fabric Scraps as Art

framed fabric | root + dwell

Fabric scraps are a great option for unique artwork and a great way to refrain from wasting them. Today I’ve rounded up some inspiration for you guys! I’ve done this a couple times with some of my favorite fabric scraps I had leftover from making pillows. You can use frames you already have at home or search for unique frames at your local thrift store.

I framed my fabric how I would frame art— just cut to size and placed sandwiched between the glass and the cardboard backing. But there are plenty of other ways you can do it, too! You can mat it, place it in a floating frame, staple it to frame and leave out the glass, etc.

Here’s a small square of mudcloth I had leftover from a pillow I made that I framed with a mat.
