Low-Waste Gift Ideas For the Host

Low-Waste Gift Ideas For the Host | root + dwell

I love bringing a little gift for the host of parties besides just the usual wine and/or food. It shows you really appreciate the work the host went through to have your company, and the appreciation of their friendship.

These little gifts are low-waste and a couple are homemade, which makes them even more special!

1. Clean and reuse a sauce jar (coconut oil, jam jars, etc will also work!) and fill it up with something from the bulk food section of your market.

Some ideas include:

-pasta
-mixed nuts
-chocolate covered raisins or nuts
-candy

2. A plant or succulent in a cute pot that they can reuse.

Who doesn’t love getting plants?! Herbs are also a great idea. I like that these last longer than cut flowers and your host doesn’t have to scramble for a vase amidst hosting a party.

3. Homemade candles

Clean and reuse old candle jars, coconut oil or jam jars, plant pots, etc. to make your own candles with beeswax, coconut oil and essential oils. I use this recipe. Have fun coming up with your own scents or scour the web for lots of yummy essential oil combos!

4. A tea towl

Blockprint your own or purchase a cute one from Etsy or a local store. Towels always come in handy and can later be used as rags.

I hope these ideas inspire you! What’s something you always bring for a host?
