Our Front Exterior Transformation Process (Progress)
As much as I want to get a new roof, add a front porch and other little updates, it’s important to remind ourselves how far we’ve come with this house, especially since we are doing a lot of the work ourselves. I decided to take a look back at how our house looked when we bought it and wow! I hardly recognize it!
I wanted to share a post with all the work that got us to this point. We knew we wanted a modern farmhouse look so we did specific projects to make that happen.
We’ve been in this house for almost 2 years now and I’m so proud of the work we’ve done thus far. Slow and steady for sure, but it’s definitely getting there!
So, let’s go down memory lane and revisit some of the exterior projects!
First, let’s look at the before:
Here’s a list of projects we did on the exterior and the links to the blog posts for more details:
Garage exterior project
By squaring off the garage door openings, replacing the doors with brand new ons, adding paneling and a trellis and barn lights modernized this side of the house and gave it more of a farmhouse feel.
Replaced Front Door With 4-lite Style and Replaced Fan with Transom
The 4-lite door gave the house a more modern, airy and farmhouse look. The transom that replaced the fan also modernized it and gave the house a cleaner look.
Paint Job and Shutters Removed
Removing the shutters really opened up the house and gave it a more simplistic and modern look. Painting the house in a warm white cleaned it up.
New Landscaping
Cleaning up the landscaping did wonders for our home! We removed everything that was overgrown and replaced them with a thoughtful, select few varieties of plants.
Window Boxes
The window boxes were the icing on the cake! They add charm and character to the house.
