Waste Less: Cloth Napkins

waste less: cloth napkins | root + dwell

We are jumping right into our Waste Less series with an easy and impactful swap—cloth napkins instead of paper ones at home.

We have been doing this for several years, before Anchor was even born. It’s an easy way to waste less in your home and it feels really special, too! There’s something so nice about having cloth napkins at every meal. You can make it even more special by purchasing a pretty basket to store them in and choosing napkins in a color and style that makes you happy! And just think of how many paper products you will save! One cloth napkin should be enough for one meal (or more! I’ve used the same cloth napkin throughout the day if it doesn’t get too dirty), whereas one would need several paper napkins to do the same job.

Again, the point of our Waste Less series is to not only have a positive impact on our environment, but to also have a more organized, thoughtful and in turn beautiful home and to show others the swaps don’t have to be overwhelming or difficult. Seeing our cloth napkins set out in our pretty basket may seem like a small thing, but it brings me joy and having a home that brings joy is so very important!

Even better, once the cloth napkins are too ratty and stained to use, turn them into rags to clean around the house!
