DC Roadtrip

a merry crew

In May we took a road trip down to Georgetown and then to Virginia to visit our friends! It was Anchor's first long car ride (over 7 hours all the way back home from VA, not including stops) and he did great! There were definitely a few times we had to pull over because of a crying fit, but as soon as he got out of that carseat he was completely fine! We made sure to make some big pitstops, and ended up finding some great places! I think it's so important to take breaks on a long road trip.

Continue below to find out where we stayed/ate/played! Also a short little video at the end :)

We stopped on the way at a little farm stand called Rosie's. It was so cute so of course we saw it as a picture taking moment :)

This is at one of our pitstops! Anchor was getting so sweaty in his carseat, so we cooled him off :)

Stayed

We stayed right in Georgetown at a hotel called The Graham. It was really nice and the staff was SUPER sweet! They loved Anchor :) Our room was spacious with a separate living area and large bedroom that easily fit the pack and play. It was perfect walking distance to anywhere we wanted to go—we didn't get in our car once.

Ate

Of course we had to try out Orange Anchor! We walked down at night from our hotel and got a seat outside. It was perfect with a baby! It's located right in Washington Harbor so the area is beautiful and energetic.

El Centro D.F.- If you want delicious Mexican food with an awesome atmosphere, go here! They were super accommodating to our stroller.

Treats

Baked & Wired- I can't even put into words how great this place is! We walked to it for breakfast and got coffees and treats. I got a lemon cookie fig newton bar. I know it sounds so plain, but I have never had anything like it! It was DELICIOUS! They bake their goods fresh in small batches and it absolutely shows.

Olivia Macaron- The flavors they have seem absolutely delicious, but we put them in our cooler, the ice melted and got into the box!! I was SO sad! If it's any testament to how good they are, Dan ate one of the soggy macarons and said it was really tasty hahaha.

Played

Washington Harbor- So pretty to walk around there. We set up our blanket in the grass and the boys took a nap :) They have great restaurants, too!

The fountain in the Washingtown Harbor- It was super hot the couple of days we were there, so we took Anchor into the fountain to cool off. All the kids there seemed to LOVE it, so if you have kids I would definitely recommend going there if you're in Georgetown.
