Family Room Updates
We have a few family room updates in the works that I’m excited to share with you guys! This was one of the very first rooms we worked on when we moved in and is our most used room. You can look back at this post to see the changes we made when we first moved in.
Since it’s our most “lived in” room, it’s had lots of wear and tear in the past (almost) 7 years, especially our couches. As much as I like to have things last a very long time and don’t like to switch things out too often, these couches and the rug needs to be replaced. I did look into reupholstering but it turned out to not be a good choice for various reasons. We are thinking of cleaning the couches up as best we can and then moving them down to the basement.
Anyway, on to our update plans!
remove eyeball lights above fireplace and add sconces on either side
remove fireplace glass and replace with fire screen (I never really loved this glass insert)
firewood holder solution
new couch, rug and coffee table
Above is a look at my design board for the space. As always I enjoy a simple palette with lots of texture and adding some pattern or color through decor or pillows.
Below is a look at what we plan to do with the fireplace area. We almost never use the eyeball lights because it always feels harsh, even on a dimmer. So we are going to remove them and add in sconces that will create a softer, ambient light.
Stay tuned for progress! I’ll share majority of it on instagram stories so you can follow along there if you’d like!
