What You Can Expect From Us in 2021

What You Can Expect From Us in 2021 | root + dwell

Happy new year, friends! I hope the start of the year is treating you well. I don’t know about you, but I always take a little while to get into a groove after the holidays, but I’m excited about what this year has in store! We are anxious about the arrival of our new baby in April!! And also excited about the new projects we have planned for the year.

I plan to blog a lot more this year and really make this a space for our readers to come and get inspiration and helpful information on making your best home <3 I know many of our readers really love putting a personal touch on their home—creating a special, cozy space for themselves and their loved ones. With my background in design and certification in interior decorating, I would love to use my knowledge to share more helpful tips and ideas. We are always open for suggestions and feedback!

We put together a rough list for our project plans and budget for this year. Here are some of the projects we have coming down the pipe:

playroom progress:

Finish the playroom. With how sick I’ve been during pregnancy we really slowed down with this project. We are ramping back up again! We actually changed things up a bit and plan to add a window, so we’ve been shopping around and speaking with window professionals to figure out the best windows for us. I will share more info on our window decision and process once we nail it down!

As you can see above, where there is a hold cut in the wall is where the window will be going. We wanted to check for piping or any other surprises before we order the window! Under that will be the built in desk, and another built in shelf flanking the other side of it.

Nursery. I’ll be sharing my design board and plans for this room very soon!

Powder bathroom. This is the bathroom on the main floor. It’s quite outdated so it will be nice to create a fresh look!

Dining room. This room will have a very similar look to the library—same floors and shiplap ceiling.

New roof. Not incredibly exciting, but needs to be done!

Side yard landscaping. We took a bunch of weak trees down at the end of the summer so need to replace them with some nice evergreens and bushes.

Windows in the library. The library is technically finished but we are leaving the large wall blank with plans to add some windows! Very excited about this. It will add so much light and character to the space. The wall is south facing and where the sun comes in for most of the day, so it will really make a difference.

Thank you so much for following along with us. We hope to bring you lots of great content this year!
