Library Renovation Progress 2
Library progress! I can’t believe the foundation of the library is done and now I can start decorating, and best of all get books on the shelves! We did SO much work to this room, between cutting a hole to create a passthrough to the back room, adding French doors, creating custom built-ins, shiplapping the ceiling, replacing the old hardwood with wide plank white oak floors, painting the room a nice fresh white…it’s a whole new room! You can see our first progress post here.
Dan did such an amazing job with these custom built-ins. The arch and open bottoms were a dream idea I had and he made that happen. We kept the rest simple since the arch adds enough interest and going too ornate wouldn’t fit in with the style of the rest of our house. It’s always important to think about the overall picture of how a design will fit into the entire home so it doesn’t look out of place. The way he wrapped the bottom in molding gives in a very finished look and like the built-ins have been here all along! The built-ins are painted Benjamin Moore Aura White Dove in Semi-gloss.
We also put down the rug and installed the shades! The shades are from Select Blinds. They are the classic roman shades in natural linen, blackout with a valence added on.
Next time I share this room it will be all decorated! Our couch doesn’t arrive until September (so it will be a while!) which is why I wanted to do another progress post. Let us know what you think and if you have any questions!
