Our Front Landscaping Makeover Reveal
If you’ve been following along with us then you probably know we’ve been working on our front landscaping, totally starting from scratch! If you saw this post you know a bit about our plans and how we had a professional come in and work with us on a design plan. We are so excited to reveal the final look today! All details below, so read on :)
When we first moved in there were a lot of mature plants sort of overtaking the house and blocking natural light from coming in. Some were leaning up against the house (not good!) and others just weren’t doing well. We worked on cleaning it up last summer and putting in some new plants, but still weren’t completely happy with the outcome. So, we decided to hire professionals to help us come up with a design plan which I highly recommend! They know how to design a garden in a way that it will look good each season.
We used Seven Maples out of Monroe, CT. Dan did all the removal and planting, but Seven Maples came up with the design plan based on our wishes (we wanted a clean look with greens, light purples and whites), delivered our plants and spotted them.
We transplanted the plants that we put in last year to the side garden (Seven Maples told us where and how) so they didn’t go to waste. Then we mulched everything with a cedar mulch from D.R. Charles also out of Monroe, CT. We liked the natural brown color and fine texture of it, the fact that it is not dyed and how it decomposes slower than other mulches.
What we planted:
arbervitea
rhododendron
hydrangeas
boxwoods
lavender (lavendin)
daisies
white azaleas
spirea
