We Bought a House!
If you were wondering about the radio silence over here for the past week, it's because we have been super busy! We bought our first house! As you may know, we have been renting for quite some time, trying to figure out where we wanted to put down roots. Our minds have changed numerous times as we weighed all the pros and cons of our choices and where the best fit for our family overall would be. Very surprisingly, we ended up in my hometownโI really did not think we would end up here but it checks so many of our boxes! I'm excited for Anchor to grow up with some of the same experiences I had.
As for the house, we chose it due to the beautiful neighborhood and we really fell in love with the backyard. It's a wonderful foundation and has lots of potential for renovations to make it our own.
We are doing a slow renovation styleโroom by room over an extended period of time. We are starting out with the main living room. My dad, Dan, his brother and our brother in law worked hard to get the room started and we have gotten SO much more done than we could have imagined. We are starting off with new floors which I am super excited about! It's going to be a hardwood that we searched extensively for and hope to someday put it throughout the entire home.
Moving is no joke, especially while renovating at the same time! There have been some stressful days and it's tough not having everything unpacked and feeling like home yet, especially with a little toddler. Tears have been shed and our routines are totally off (even Anchor who has been up until midnight the past 3 nights). But we are getting there and are excited about what's to come!
As for the blog, you can expect a lot of the same sort of content such as decor and DIYs, but we will also be sprinkling in lots of home renovation ideas, tips and tricks! We are doing much of the work ourselves, so we will share how from the big stuff (flooring, building custom pieces, etc.) to the little things (choosing paint colors and window treatments, the process of styling rooms starting from a blank slate, thrifting pieces for the home, etc.).
There's lots of new stuff to come, so stay tuned! As always, thanks for following along :)
