Organizing and Decluttering the Home Step 1: Make a List
If you have goals to declutter your home and move to a more minimalist lifestyle, I’m sharing step 1 of how to do that today! Simply start off with a list. The more specific you can be, the better!
For example, if you want to declutter your living room, write down “living room” and underneath add subcategories such as “blankets and throws” or “entertainment console: video games”. This way you can take it one step at a time. Focusing on a small areas is easier to stick to and manage.
I’ve included a downloadable PDF worksheet that you can print out to help guide you. On the top line place the name of the room you want to declutter and on the lines underneath write more specific areas of the room you want to organize. In the “notes” section you can write things down like anything you may need for the organizing process such as garbage bags, boxes for donations. You can also jot down items you find you may need when organizing such as baskets, plastic bins or drawer dividers.
Download the worksheet below and print as many sheets as you need (3 rooms per sheet). Hope this helps with your decluttering goals!
Below is my list so far, so you can see an example of how to use the worksheet. I still need to get more specific but it’s a start!
