Fall is just around the corner and it’s my favorite time of year to decorate the home! I love all the cozy materials, warm colors and welcoming scents. Today I’m sharing some simple ways to make your home feel like fall in a non-obvious way. Think warm, cozy and welcoming!

1. Create a welcoming autumn doorstep

Start off with a fall-inspired front porch to welcome guests. A wreath, doormat layered over an outdoor rug, planters filled with autumn arrangements and lanterns for that fall glow.

2. Swap out some of your pillows and throws

Heavier materials and warm, muted colors. Here are some pillow and throw combo ideas for your inspiration!

3. Arrange an autumn vignette

Create little autumn-specific moments with dried/preserved stems, flameless (or real) candles, textured pottery, warm woods (and maybe a pumpkin or two).

4. Mix in some dim lighting

As the days grow shorter we’ll be turning the lights on sooner. Opt for some lamps to keep the lighting dim and warm. Flameless candles are always nice for ambiance as well.

5. Don’t forget scent!

Stovetop potpourri, cinnamon pinecones, candles or my favorite, essential oils in a diffuser. There are so many essential oil combos to create, you can make your very own fall signature scent for your home :)

I hope this post helps to show how decorating for the seasons can mean simple tweaks and swaps in your current decor, and you can often use much of it year round! What’s your favorite way to decorate for fall?
