Spring 2021 Veggie Garden

The garden is all tidied up for the season and we added a little something extra— can you spot it?! Here’s a look at last year’s garden updates and our initial garden build here.

Having the garden prepared really signals the start of the season for me and it brings us so much joy as a family. It’s such a peaceful spot to walk through each day, and once things start growing Anchor really enjoys checking in each day to see what he can harvest (aka eat right from the plant and the harvest never makes it inside)!

This year we added this little paver in front, extending the pathway. Besides adding extra character to the garden, it actually makes opening the gate easier.

What we did:

  • mulched front garden beds where the catmint plants are. It’s a cedar mulch.

  • added more rocks to the pathways

  • added rocks and slate paver in front of gate

  • turned the soil, adding peat moss and compost

  • pulled up all the mint from the garden bed since it was overtaking it, and planted them in pots instead

  • started planting!

What we’re planting this year:

  • peppers

  • cherry tomatoes, red + golden

  • snap peas

  • green beans

  • carrots

  • onions

  • raspberries

  • basil

  • mint
