Entryway Renovation Update: Floors

Entryway Renovation Update: Floors | root + dwell

As you may have seen via our social media, we are currently tackling our entryway! We replaced our door a few months ago and recently had our floors done!

Beforehand the floors were a dark green tile. We knew we wanted to lighten it up and have a natural look in here with a little interest. In order to flow well with the floors we are doing in the rest of the home, we chose to have the same type of wood and seal in here, but with a little added interest that the herringbone pattern gives.

We hired out for this job and they were absolutely amazingβ€” Carvalho Junior Hardwood Floors. They did exactly what we wanted and did the job SO quickly. We are very grateful!

We told them the look we were going for and they suggested a mix of character #1 and select white oak in 3 inch widths, 13 inches long.

We then had it sealed with a water-based sealant so we can get the natural look of the wood (and there is very minimal odor and it dries faster than oil based).

Here are some process photos!
