Adding Character | Ceiling Medallion

We want to share with you a quick and easy way to add instant character to a room— ceiling medallions!

I honestly never thought much of them until one day we were browsing around Home Depot and they caught my eye. Originally this was going to be for the family room, but it just didn't work in there so I thought it would be perfect for our bedroom chandelier. Every time I would look up at our chandelier which I LOVE, I would just feel it was lacking something. Usually, if something is lacking, it's character! So Dan took the time this weekend to paint the medallion and put it up. We are so happy with how it looks!

Medallions work well in rooms with high or recessed ceilings. Also take into consideration the room's style as well as the chandelier. We went with a very simplistic medallion so that the chandelier is still the main focus, the medallion just supports it instead of competes. Our bedroom is also simplistic and airy, so we didn't want something too ornate.

Most medallions need to be painted. They come bright white and flat, so you will want to either blend it in with your ceiling color or pick a color that stands out if you're going for something fun and bold! Otherwise it will look flat, lifeless and unfinished.
