It just fell flat on the exterior and on the interior it felt too bright in comparison with the rest of our home. I knew I wanted a shade of black, and after lots of paint chips and some samples, landed on Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore.

Now the shelves are filled with toys and the beautiful activity table Dan made for the space is getting plenty of use!

Read MoreWe have finally started on the nursery! Plans have changed a bit since my original design. We thought we were going to start the nursery before the baby came and since we didn’t know if the baby was going to be a boy or a girl (it’s a boy!!) we kept it pretty neutral. I’ve decided to make a few changes, adding in some dark touches, a built-in bookcase and custom reeded detailing to the closet doors which we will change from bi-fold to French.
